TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) of the East Java Distribution Unit (UID) shuts off power for the area around Jalan Gubeng, Surabaya. It was carried out because the 20-kilovolt medium voltage pole and two transformers collapsed due to the Gubeng Road collapsing on Tuesday night, December 18.
The Communication Manager of PT PLN East Java UID, Fenny Nurhayati, said that the power outage for some customers in the area had to be conducted for the process of evacuating transformers, poles and cables. She received the information that the electricity pole had collapsed at 9:35 p.m. The PLN officer then deployed to the location to evacuate the equipment.
“There are only two customers affected by the power outage, the Elisabeth Building and the BNI Building. Currently, both of them turn on electricity using generator sets,” Fenny said in Surabaya, Wednesday, December 19.
Fenny said the repair and installation of electricity poles would be carried out soon, after South Surabaya UP3 officers conducted a survey and planned the pole placement and network withdrawal.
“We from PLN, continue to strive so that the electricity can return to normal soon, and apologize to the people affected by the power outage,” she said.
At the scene, the collapsed electricity poles were still left in its position. The joint officers coordinated by the Surabaya City Disaster Management Agency still conducted a search to check the possible victims.
